AK · State guideA license is required for a home that provides housing, food service and help with activities of daily living to three or more unrelated adults, or to any number of residents whose care is paid with state or federal funds. Homes serving one or two private-pay residents may operate without a license. Homes are licensed to serve either adults with mental health or developmental disabilities, or elderly adults and adults with physical disabilities or dementia. Administrator qualifications are stricter for homes with 11 or more residents than for homes with 1-10.
