Any entity providing residential care for compensation to two or more unrelated adults (lodging, meals, personal care, medication help and similar services) must be licensed by LDH as an adult residential care provider. There are four levels: Level 1 serves 2-8 residents in a home-like single-family setting; Level 2 serves 9-16 in a congregate setting; Levels 3 and 4 serve 17+ in apartments, with Level 4 adding intermittent nursing.
