New Hampshire
New Hampshire licenses assisted living at two levels under RSA 151: ALR-residential care (personal care, meaning non-medical hands-on help with activities of daily living) and the higher supported residential health care level (RSA 151:9, VII(a)(2)). Homes of 3 or fewer beds are exempt from ALR-RC licensing only if all residents are served under a DCYF license or in a certified community residence. Adult family care residences serve 1 or 2 residents in the provider's own home under the Choices for Independence Medicaid waiver (He-P 813, effective December 6, 2019).

Key requirements
- ALR-RC licensees must provide health and safety services, with protective care and oversight 24 hours a day (He-P 804.14)
- Reportable incidents must be investigated and reported to DHHS within 48 hours (He-P 804.14)
- Certain restraints are prohibited, including full bed rails and wrist/ankle restraints or vests that restrict movement (He-P 804.14)
- Adult family care providers must be 21+, live in the home, complete 6 hours of orientation before accepting residents and 6 hours of continuing education a year (He-P 813)
