A 'residential facility for groups' is any establishment that provides food, shelter, assistance and limited supervision to people who are aged, infirm, or have an intellectual or physical disability; facilities range from about 3 beds to more than 150. A person who does the same for pay for no more than 2 unrelated people in their home needs a 'home for individual residential care' license. Residents are classed by whether they can evacuate without help (Category 1) or not (Category 2), and facilities can add endorsements for assisted living, Alzheimer's/dementia, mental illness, intellectual disabilities and chronic illness.

Key requirements
- Administrators must be licensed by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administrators
- Category 1 residents must be able to move from their bedroom to outside (or, in facilities over 10 residents, past a smoke/fire barrier) unassisted within 4 minutes (NAC 449.1591)
- Caregivers must be 18+ and complete at least 4 hours of tier 1/tier 2 training within 60 days of hire, plus 8 hours a year (NAC 449.196)
- Caregivers who assist with medications need 16 hours of medication management training (12 classroom, 4 practical) plus 8 hours a year
- Alzheimer's/dementia endorsement required to care for residents with dementia (NAC 449.2754)
